East Junior High students celebrated their PRIDE in a homeroom Minute-to Win-It competition. Each grade's teams competed with one another in a variety of competitions. In the picture above students tried to knock over loaded water bottles elephant-style, wearing on their heads pantihose weighted with squash. Below, students tried to throw rolls of bathroom tissue into hoola hoops.
PRIDE is the acronym we use for Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy. We show PRIDE in all areas of the school and in how we use our iPads.

Avid Students Do Ropes Course

Have you ever done something you never thought you could? That describes the AVID ropes course field trip at MSU Friday, Oct. 3. One girl said, "My goal is to climb halfway up the climbing wall." By the end of the event, she climbed all the way. Students in the AVID elective class became better acquainted by cheering on and helping their classmates achieve their climbing goals.

Winter Sports Registration Available Online

East Junior High students wanting to participate in activities must register online at http://mankatoeastactivities.registryinsight.com/
On that site you will be able to complete the Minnesota State High School League forms, find additional activity documents, and pay required fees.

Students Encouraged to Read Online!

Cold weather is upon us and students are encouraged to cozy up to some great reading! East Junior High students have e-resources available to help them utilize the iPad for recreational reading. Students can use the Mackin Via app on their iPads to find a library of good books selected by East media specialist, Mrs. Pischner. Another source of e-books is MyOn Reader which can be accessed through this link or the free MyOn Reader app.

Students who have a public library card can also gain access to dozens of free magazines through the Traverse Des Sioux Library Cooperative. Any student who wants help setting up the Zinio app for access to the magazines should bring his/her library card and iPad to Mrs. Pischner for assistance.

Don’t Forget to Clip Your Box Tops!

EJHS Families: Box Tops for Education is a program through General Mills that provides cash to schools. Each box top has a value of ten cents. Please remember to clip your box tops and drop them off at the East Junior High office. Please visit http://www.boxtopsforeducation.info/ for more information.
